vintage 2022 report

The year was difficult with several sudden weather changes
The winter was mild, with relatively high temperatures and relatively few rainfalls.
It snowed in March, while spring temperatures were generally low, delaying budbreak
Flowering was late (end of May, beginning of June), uneven and prolonged, while the heavy rains during the flowering period, especially in June, led to increased downy mildew pressure in the cooler sites
Summer was very rainy and warm. The increased temperatures contributed to the acceleration of ripening in the late varieties, while the early whites were harvested later than normal. Assyrtiko and Malagouzia were harvested during the first ten days of September, Mavrodafni in med September, while Negoska and Xinomavros at the beginning of October.
The relatively high temperatures during the ripening period combined with increased rainfall contributed to the reduction of the acidity of all varieties. Despite the high temperatures of veraison -maturity period the alcoholic degrees were moderate, balancing the lower acidity.
